{"id":2867,"date":"2019-05-28T14:59:42","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T21:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/?p=2867"},"modified":"2019-05-28T14:59:42","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T21:59:42","slug":"q2-2019-400000-mark-achieved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/impact-journal\/q2-2019-400000-mark-achieved\/","title":{"rendered":"Q2 2019 &#8211; $400,000 mark achieved!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every quarter, we continue to learn about charities we never knew existed before our members brought them to our attention.\u00a0 Aside from the funding we provide to charities, we&#8217;re also spreading awareness and educating the public on the needs these organizations have in our community.\u00a0 This quarter, we chose to support nonprofits who serve senior citizens, organ transplant and cancer patients, and individuals experiencing a behavioral health emergency.\u00a0Thanks to our members\u2019 giving hearts, we donated <strong>$27,100<\/strong>\u00a0this quarter and people&#8217;s lives are being impacted on a daily basis.\u00a0 To date, our chapter has donated <strong>$412,425<\/strong>\u00a0to local charities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2851\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/YOPAS-Master-small-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/YOPAS-Master-small-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/YOPAS-Master-small-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/YOPAS-Master-small.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ahwatukee donated <strong>$10,900<\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/valleyymca.org\/opas\/\"><strong>Y OPAS<\/strong><\/a>, the YMCA\u2019s Outreach Programs for Ahwatukee Seniors, who has been providing support services to Ahwatukee seniors since 2001.\u00a0\u00a0Y OPAS is a community effort offering FREE support services for the seniors of Ahwatukee and their caregivers. Services are provided by community volunteers \u2013 the generous neighbors of Ahwatukee. Their objective is to meet the needs of the growing senior population in\u00a0Ahwatukee, with the goal of enabling our seniors to maintain independent living in their own homes. They serve individuals 62 years and older and who live in Ahwatukee (85044, 85045, and 85048 zip codes).<\/p>\n<p>Our donations will be used to help Y OPAS continue to provide these services that help seniors stay connected and engaged in their community, and positively impacts their quality of life.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2852\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/HIHH-Master-small-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/HIHH-Master-small-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/HIHH-Master-small-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/HIHH-Master-small.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpinhealinghome.org\/\"><strong>H<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpinhealinghome.org\/\"><strong>elp In Healing Home Foundation<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(HIHH) was the recipient of <strong>$10,150<\/strong> in donations from our Scottsdale group.\u00a0HIHH\u00a0provides a\u00a0serene, comfortable and hygienic lodging opportunity for patients recuperating from whole-organ, stem cell and bone marrow transplant surgeries, and for patients undergoing extensive cancer treatments.\u00a0HIHH embraces guests who would otherwise likely spend hundreds of dollars each night for hotel accommodations or perhaps a rental property for their extended stay. The benefit to\u00a0a patient and caregiver staying in an HIHH guest casita far exceeds the affordable $45.00\/night charge.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, HIHH is replacing all 84 beds in their guest casitas. Because each room is cleaned extensively, their beds are moved on a regular basis, much more movement than a bed might endure in a residential lifetime. Frames are repaired as they become less stable, but it is time for major surgery versus\u00a0a band-aid fix. Our donations will go towards this replacement program. The anticipated cost to replace all beds is $40,000.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2860\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/CRN-Master-Small-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/CRN-Master-Small-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/CRN-Master-Small-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/CRN-Master-Small.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our East Valley group selected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crisisnetwork.org\/\"><strong>C<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crisisnetwork.org\/\"><strong>risis Response Network<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and donated <strong>$5,900<\/strong>.\u00a0 Crisis Response Network, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals by Inspiring Hope and empowering transformation from HOPE to HEALTH through a continuum of crisis services.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2007, CRN has\u00a0been providing crisis call center services and in that short time has helped thousands of individuals and families get connected to the help they need.
