We wrapped up this year by\u00a0touching\u00a0the lives of individuals experiencing\u00a0first-time homelessness; children with congenital heart defects; homebound citizens needing a little extra help; and kids affected by a disability, trauma or foster care. Each of these organizations are doing important work in our community. Thanks to our members\u2019 giving hearts, we donated <strong>$27,900<\/strong>\u00a0this quarter and people&#8217;s lives are being impacted on a daily basis.\u00a0 To date, our chapter has donated <strong>$350,225<\/strong>\u00a0to local charities.<\/p>\n<p>Ahwatukee donated <strong>$10,900<\/strong> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loveiam.org\/\"><strong>LoveIAM<\/strong><\/a>, an organization dedicated to sending children with congenital heart defects to summer camp in Prescott.\u00a0 &#8220;Heart Camp&#8221; gives these kids an opportunity to be like any other child who goes to summer camp. They get to swim, zip-line, horseback ride and participate in many other activities that allude them in everyday life. Thanks to a whole crew of medical professionals and volunteers, these kids are free to have fun and set their health condition aside for a few days.<\/p>\n<p>Our donations will be used to send as many kids to camp as possible.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2672\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LoveIAM-Master-Small-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/familypromiseaz.org\/\">Family Promise of Greater Phoenix<\/a><\/strong> was the recipient of <strong>$8,750<\/strong> in donations from our Scottsdale group.\u00a0This local nonprofit serves first-time homeless families with the help of the interfaith community. There are 200 Family Promise organizations in 43 states. They are the largest shelter provider of families in the US.<\/p>\n<p>Our donations will be used to provide emergency shelter and social services to help families move toward independent housing and self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Famil-Promise-Master-Small-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our West Valley sister group donated <strong>$2,300 <\/strong>to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.silverliningriding.org\/\">Silver Lining Riding<\/a><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0 This charity&#8217;s mission is to help people overcome life&#8217;s obstacles through equine interaction.\u00a0 They provide therapeutic riding lessons to people with disabilities and their families, children in the foster care system, young adults in group homes, and individuals who have experienced trauma and need\u00a0assistance dealing with the physical and emotional issues attached to that trauma.<\/p>\n<p>Our donations will be used in direct support of\u00a0programs expenses such as feed, board, veterinary services, saddles and other tack, and payment of instructors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2671\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Master-small-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our East Valley group selected <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutcare.org\/\">About Care<\/a> <\/strong>and donated <strong>$5,950<\/strong>.\u00a0 About Care delivers caring and compassionate support services\u00a0using trained volunteers\u00a0with special concern for the elderly and physically-challenged, homebound residents of Chandler, Gilbert\u00a0and\u00a0Queen Creek.\u00a0 The organization\u00a0encourages and enables independent living by assisting their neighbors to continue living in their homes with dignity and self-respect.<\/p>\n<p>Our donations will be used to recruit and train additional volunteers.
