We are doing important work and saving lives. This quarter we touched the lives of the less fortunate who are moving into homes and in need of furniture and household items; the blind and visually impaired in our community; and youth ages 15-21 who have experienced foster care and are transitioning into adulthood. Each of these organizations provide a valuable service to our community. Thanks to our members\u2019 giving hearts, we donated <strong>$23,970<\/strong>\u00a0this quarter and people&#8217;s lives are being impacted on a daily basis.\u00a0 To date, our chapter has donated <strong>$253,050<\/strong> to local charities.<\/p>\n<p>Ahwatukee donated <strong>$11,220<\/strong> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.furniturebank.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Furniture Bank<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 This local charity is on a mission to assist the less fortunate who are moving into housing by providing furniture and household items. Many of these individuals, including children, do not have a bed or other necessities to take to their new home. It is their hope to create a positive and comfortable environment they can call home and put the stigma of being homeless in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Our donation will be used to buy beds for those they help and secure additional warehouse space for donated furniture.<\/p>\n<p>If you have gently used furniture or household goods to donate, please contact them on their website at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.furniturebank.us\/donate-furniture.html\" data-lynx-mode=\"asynclazy\" data-lynx-uri=\"https:\/\/l.facebook.com\/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.furniturebank.us%2Fdonate-furniture.html&amp;h=ATNRoy8zmPFspcFvhbTN4TN-9ytTQfwchABpTwGuA5tlG7BJZDdfH4qURaqPTkm8AJKPATdFlFVYIUGAUel_Qqrd-79y6kMhwrIsBioM4pnZ162lkIXTxKzsgI05XP7FjYzMsA\" data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;-U&quot;}\">http:\/\/www.furniturebank.us\/donate-furniture.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/seeitourway.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Foundation for Blind Children<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was the recipient of <strong>$9,350<\/strong> in donations from our Scottsdale group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can teach them or you can serve them.&#8221; This is the philosophy embraced by FBC.\u00a0This local nonprofit teaches over 2,000 blind and visually impaired individuals annually, ages birth to 103, how to succeed in life.<\/p>\n<p>Our donation will be used to support their therapy programs which include\u00a0full-time nursing, occupational therapy, feeding therapy, physical therapy, speech\/language therapy and medical interventions including tube feeding, tracheal maintenance and delivery of medication.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-1.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-1-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our West Valley sister group donated <strong>$3,200<\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resilientme.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>R<\/strong><strong>esilientMe<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0 ResilientMe is a research grounded, trauma sensitive prevention program. Aging out of foster care can be one of the most traumatic events of a young adults\u2019 life. ResilientMe is founded on the belief that in order to give our aging out population a chance at being successful adults; we must equip and prepare them to handle the challenges they will face as adults.<\/p>\n<p>Our donation will partially fund the facilitation cost of the program and supplies. Typically 15-20 foster youth participate in each program day when delivered.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-2.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Master-for-JE-2-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our East Valley group was officially launched on February 8th!
