{"id":2167,"date":"2017-10-05T12:26:12","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/?p=2167"},"modified":"2017-10-05T12:26:12","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:26:12","slug":"q3-2017-love-the-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/impact-journal\/q3-2017-love-the-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Q3 2017 &#8211; Love the energy!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Q3 2017 \u2013 Love the energy!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Q3 meetings were held in August and our ladies turned out in force.\u00a0 We added 15 new members as result of our members bringing guests.\u00a0 Keep up the referrals!\u00a0 Drum roll, please\u2026.we topped the $200,000 mark this quarter.\u00a0 Our grand total as a chapter is $205,500.<\/p>\n<p>In Q3, our members donated $23,000 collectively to the selected charities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CHARITY IMPACT STATEMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phoenixrescuemission.org\/\">Phoenix Rescue Mission<\/a> was the Q2 recipient of our <em>Ahwatukee<\/em> donations. Adele Dietrich, Legacy Giving Officer, introduced Michelle Radar and her son, Mason, to the group. Michelle shared her story of transformation.\u00a0 She went from homeless and living by a dumpster, addicted to drugs and alcohol AGAIN, and had lost her then six year old son who was placed in foster care.\u00a0 It was at rock bottom when she decided to go to detox and then seek help from the Changing Lives Center (CLC) run by the Phoenix Rescue Mission.\u00a0 The CLC has a vocational program where women learn the ins and outs of restaurant management.\u00a0 The goal is to graduate from this program and secure a full-time management job.\u00a0 These jobs will pay the women enough to move into their own homes and support their families. It is a life changing program.\u00a0 Michelle now runs the Mission Cookies and Catering business for the CLC.\u00a0 View her touching story <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/232545832\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2173\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0097-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0097-small.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0097-small-146x150.jpg 146w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alicia Sutton Campbell, Executive Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freeartsaz.org\/\">Free Arts for Abused Children<\/a>, was excited to have Niya share her story with our <em>Scottsdale<\/em> group.\u00a0 Free Arts provides art, music, theater and dance classes\/camps to homeless and abused children.\u00a0 It is through the artistic expression of their feelings that these kids begin to heal.\u00a0 Niya is one of those kids who, at first, reluctantly went to Free Arts upon the recommendation of her youth leader at her shelter.\u00a0 She was shy, sad and stayed to herself.\u00a0 After a while, Niya began to blossom at Free Arts and now easily talks in front of a group of strangers. She is motivated, passionate and confident.\u00a0 Her future is bright as she plans to get her associates degree while still in high school.\u00a0 Free Arts gave Niya an opportunity to shine and she is doing just that.\u00a0 Listen to her story <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/232546085\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2175\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3176-small-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3176-small-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3176-small-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3176-small.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotrmc.org\/\">Girls on the Run Serving Maricopa County<\/a> \u2013 Meagan Kukowski, Executive Director, is passionate about girls.\u00a0 She was excited to announce to our <em>West Valley<\/em> members that their donations enabled GOTR to serve an additional 30 girls in need this upcoming fall season.\u00a0 The 10-week curriculum provides life changing programming to girls addressing issues that all girls face.\u00a0 Mentoring, empowerment, physical activity, strong healthy friendships, inspiration and confidence are all aspects you will find incorporated into the 10-week program.\u00a0 Aside from the inner awareness that takes place, these girls also train to complete their first 5k race.\u00a0 They learn anything is possible when you put one foot in front of the other.\u00a0 The next 5k will be held on November 18th\u00a0for anyone interesting in participating or volunteering.\u00a0 Learn more <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/232546409\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3869-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3869-small.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.100wwcvalleyofthesun.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3869-small-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>RANDOM DRAW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ahwatukee<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teenlifeline.org\">Teen Lifeline<\/a> \u2013 Sunnev Terrell and Heidi Clayton nominated this nonprofit that provides a safe, confidential, and crucial crisis service where teens help teens make healthy decisions together.\u00a0 Their vision is to impact the devastating problem of teen suicide in Arizona so that any teen, at any time, will have knowledge of and access to Teen Lifeline, its counselors and services.\u00a0 The organization currently has a school ID initiative with the goal of printing their hotline number on the back of all high school IDs in the state.\u00a0 Over 80 schools have participated to date.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mothers-grace.org\">Mother\u2019s Grace<\/a> \u2013 Daradee Olson shared how this organization is dedicated to the support of mothers and children who have endured overwhelming life circumstances and tragedies. Their mission is to be a bridge or an answer to a prayer in the short term while Mom concentrates on her family and trying to regain some sense of normalcy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.furniturebank.us\">Furniture Bank<\/a> \u2013 Wendy Brooks explained how this nonprofit believes every family emerging from homelessness in the Phoenix area can live with dignity in homes that are properly furnished; that children have access to a safe and comfortable sleep environment; and that all use-able furniture will be efficiently reused, re-purposed, or recycled.\u00a0 They have a storage unit at 32<span style=\"font-size: 11.6667px;\">nd\u00a0<\/span>Street and Pecos for furniture donations.<\/p>\n<p><em>Scottsdale<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryanhouse.org\">Ryan House<\/a> \u2013 Kristi Hall shared how Ryan House serves more than 275 vulnerable, medically fragile children and their parents each year. Without Ryan House, children would die agonizing deaths alone, and their families would crumble, facing life-long and devastating social and financial effects.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.libertywildlife.org\">Liberty Wildlife<\/a> \u2013 Sandra Mooney described how this charity is committed to nurturing the nature of Arizona by providing quality wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, and conservation services for the community. In the past year, Liberty Wildlife provided relief for over 6500 animals brought to them by the public. They also have a robust education program and provide these services for students of all ages throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wvccc.org\">West Valley Child Crisis Center<\/a> \u2013 Stephanie Waldrop nominated this charity and explains how they are proactive in ending the cycle of family violence through education, prevention programs, and safe placement services to promote healthy family environments for the future of Arizona&#8217;s children. WVCCC is a leading service provider in foster care and reunification services.\u00a0 WVCCC believes children who must live apart from their biological parents do best when they are cared for in committed nurturing family homes.<\/p>\n<p><em>West Valley<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ucpofcentralaz.org\/\">United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona<\/a> \u2013 Robin Telle shares how this charity provides comprehensive services to individuals with disabilities and their families by providing physical and developmental support as well as educational growth which is the foundation for independent living. Individuals with disabilities will achieve their potential and experience equality in the community.
